Product Description
The EOS 550D redefines the boundaries of Canon's consumer DSLR range, incorporating technologies and features more commonly found in semiprofessional DSLRs into the compact, lightweight body favoured by consumers. With a newlydeveloped 18 Megapixel (MP) APS-C CMOS sensor, coupled with Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 image processor and the ability to shoot Full HD movies, photography enthusiasts are empowered to explore new levels of creativity. The EOS 550D makes Canon's powerful imaging technology more accessible to consumers. Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 image processor and 18MP sensor support standard ISO settings of 100 6400 (expandable to 12800), while enhanced incamera noise reduction technology boosts performance in low light conditions. The system's 14bit image processing also produces smoother tonal gradation and natural looking colours for high quality prints and on-screen display.
For swift and accurate focusing, the EOS 550D features a 9point AF system with one extrasensitive crosstype point at the centre for f/2.8 or faster lenses. The EOS 550D also supports highspeed, continuous shooting at 3.7 frames per second (fps). These features provide users with the opportunity to exert greater control over their images, allowing them to capture splitsecond moments with ease and accuracy.

Very well. Fast delivery. Everything was as expected. I love the camera.
S. ******tonI bought this camera for its video capabilities - near enough a 35mm cine size sensor, 48Mbps, interchangeable lenses etc. Stills are perfectly fine and I shoot in RAW, using Photoshop Elements for post processing. Now then, the video. If you are switching from a camcorder you will be in for a technical ride of biblical proportions. If you are after a shallow depth of field in daylight then you will also need ND filters to get a lower f-stop. This is because shutter speed and ISO will be locked down and a wide aperture produces less DOF, so you have to cut out a lot of light getting to the sensor. This camera is not for casual, auto video, but it can produce astonishing images with a lot of work. It will test you every step of the way, thinking about aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field, stability, audio.. the lot.
Mar******lisI have had the Canon EOS 550D for a couple of months now and I have simply been blown away by its performance. Before this DSLR I had a P & S camera which I felt it limited my photography skills with a lack of adjustable settings. The screen is absolutely amazing with more pixels than any other DSLR at the time of writing. The kit lens is very good providing sharp photos every time even in low light conditions. It is lightweight and just the right size to have around your neck. Buttons are easy to press and nicely arranged around the camera. I would fully recommend this camera to anyone wanting great photos.
M.*****htThe 550D seems to do all this tedius calibration work now in the twinkling of an eye with powerful inboard computers. If you are a total muppet with a camera (as I am), then you can just pick up the 550D and pan and shoot - simples. Every shot seems to come out looking glossy magazine standard professional quality, it's shockingly impressive, it makes you go, 'wow'. Having said that, I know that the Canon 550D is capable of doing so much more than just point and shoot. Therefore, I've bought the book, '550D for Dummies': I yearn to become a pukka photographer using this extremely user-friendly camera. Maybe one day I will be able to overcome my lifelong dread of playground swings and lux meters.
Da****MWhen I decided to get a digital SLR I started with the Olympus E420. I soon found that that the lack of image stabilisation was a problem though and started looking for a replacement. I went for the Canon 550D because it has video capability and I'm glad I did. The only slight niggle is that in continuous shooting mode using the RAW format, you only get 6 shots before the buffer fills up, but to be fair, if I need more than that I make sure I have the right settings selected and change to shooting in jpeg format (for around 34 shots). In short, I'm delighted with this camera!
Mr. ********ittI have had this camera for 9 months now and am really finally getting to grips with all the custom setting and features it has to offer. The main thing I like about this camera is that it's compact and light for a DSLR. Sure I would love a canon 5D but the point of this camera is the small size and cropped sensor (APS-C) meaning it's a great walkabout camera and great when you add a zoom lens for wildlife and sports.
M.*****lerthis fotos are only with the items included in package, i am quite happy with it.
