Answer: It is not made on a hinge however the roof snaps together with just a few composite parts. It is easy to slide the roof sections out to get to the inside then put them back. No tools are required to do this and it only takes a couple of minutes.Question: How wide is the opening on the XL?

The dog house was pretty easy to assemble and is sturdy. It fits our 110 lb German Shepherd, but I think any dog much bigger it would be tight quarters. Anyway, she loves it and so do we.

Love this item! Easy to put together but when it warms up I have to glue some of the trim pieces on!

Received this today so can't yet comment on durability but it seems very well constructed. The panels look so much the same it was easy to not realize they need to be put together so that the panel goes into the groove of the adjoining panel but was an easy fix to turn them around. Very happy with it.

The house is great, easy to assemble and a good price for the size.

Easy to assembly (less then 30 min's). Easy to read and simple instructions. No tools required but I did use a small hammer to tap the roof crown piece as it was a precision fit to insure water tightness I would guess. No other tools required. Doghouse seems sturdy and I would not be surprised that it would hold up for years. Puppy seemed happy with it too.

I have this to house my cats Litter Box out on the patio! It's so cute AND large enough to fit my Litter Robot. Love that it can be outside and kitty loves it too.

It was easy to put together and really quite sturdy when you follow directions. My dog weighs 100 lbs. and he fits easily and the material it is made of is similar to the Trex deck material. Very durable. Believe me, this doghouse is good and big. Last for years...... people need to quit complaining about everything! I’m a contractor and I know it’s a keeper.
