    Customer questions & answers

Question:Does the WGen 12000 have electric start??

    Answer:Yes. And remote start also.

Question:Does the fuel gauge measure the propane, or just the gas?

Answer:Just gas. Use the propane container gauge to measure how much you have left.

Question:I used 1g of pure gas and got 2 1/2 hours. Is there a difference between ethanol gas and straight?

Answer:The manual says not to use fuel with more than 10% ethanol. More than 10% ethanol can damage the fuel system and possibly void the warranty. I wouldn't recommend using ethanol.

Question:buenos dias este equipo puede encender un aire de 5 toneladas,tv,directv, licuadora, tetera de agua, bomba de agua y 7 bombillos por favor me urge la re

Answer:The WGen12000 Ultra Duty generator is capable of outputting 12000 total running watts. At 120V, it will output 100 amps, and at 240V it will output 50 amps. It is our largest open frame generator in the WGen series. Please double check the load requirements of the specific appliances you would like to power with this generator before attempting to install. Drawing too much energy could cause the generator to fail or appliances to run poorly.

Let me start by saying that I had to order the 9500DF twice because of how difficult it is to find this particular generator in stock. Outward appearances clearly show this to be a well-designed generator. The coloring, the materials used, and the details show that Westinghouse takes great pride in their designs. I unpackaged the generator from the box, and the only issue noted was that the serial number sticker on the frame had been damaged and made it impossible to know the serial number. LUCKILY, the serial number is also printed on the shipping box, so I was still able to register the generator on the Westinghouse webpage. Other than the serial number issue, there were no other signs of damage to the generator. The Westinghouse 9500DF is large enough to run a large portion of a person's house while maintaining features commonly found on smaller generators. For instance, a 50 amp plug is hard to find on a generator under 10,000 watts. It is also uncommon to find a large 10,000-watt generator with a recoil start. It is nice knowing that if the battery fails that I can still start the generator in an emergency with the recoil start. The most prominent design feature that makes this generator stand out is the combination of all the above with the dual-fuel capability. I have a large supply of propane on-site. Based upon my estimated consumption at load, I am anticipating having 20+ days of propane on hand to run the generator for extended periods during power outages. I haven't found another generator that can match the power output of the 9500DF and only consume .67 gallons of propane per hour at 50% load. The last power outage in my area occurred last winter and lasted seven days. Not having power in -20 weather is not an option, and finding a generator with all the features and capabilities of the Westinghouse 9500DF can't be beaten. I highly recommend this generator and a good google search on instructions for breaking in and caring for a generator long term.

I purchased the Westinghouse after loaning my Generac to a family member Christmas Eve. They were to be out of power for three days. Then I decided I would give them my Generac and purchase a replacement. I loved my Generac except for the handle that failed and also the 12-volt starter battery was buried in the unit and was annoying to replace after a few years. Anyhow, while shopping around I discovered this Westinghouse 12500 Watt Dual Fuel Generator with a control center/ meter which I thought would include a watt meter in the DATA CENTER (very disappointed it does not). My Generac had a simple bar graph which showed how much wattage power I was using. I am pleased so far- was delivered on time and easy to assemble. After reading manual and following proper break in steps, so far so good. I believe having the option to use propane is a big plus as it is much easier than always relying on gasoline. It also seems to have been designed with maintenance in mind by the way the unit is designed and easy access of all components. I will add to my review after my next power outage.

We have been thinking about getting a generator for years and finally broke down and did it as the weather looked like it might repeat what it did a couple years back in the Houston area. The thought of going 32 hours without power in freezing temps again far outweighed the cost of the generator. Thankfully we have made it through this time without a need to use the new generator! I did set it up and hooked up the propane without any problems. I plan on only using the propane side, being cleaner and not having to worry about it gumming up if I don't use it. Propane can also be a little easier to find when hurricanes are threatening the coast. It is pretty heavy but the wheels make it extremely easy to roll around without any problems. It is loud but no louder than any of my neighbors generators. Started very easy with the push button. Love that I will not have to be pulling on the rope to get that thing cranked up. Hopefully I won't have to use it very often but glad I have it in case I do.

This WESTINGHOUSE Emergency is an absolutely excellent unit. There was very little to install out of the box. The generator is very easy to start using both of the Starter Button and the Remote Starter Controller. The choice of using different fuel supplies: Propane or Gasoline is the equivalent of having two generators in one. This generator can serve as a permanent standby system if your Service Entrance (Utility Meter) is located in the right spot. It's simply a matter of building a small enclosure for it and you can dispense the idea of an elaborate installation such as a GENERAC. In my case, mine must be kept in my garage (due to my Utility Meter location); but its maneuvrability and its small footprint makes up for an outdoor permanent storage. Its weight is well distributed and managed by its plastic wheels. The only issue that I have had with it was the installation of the main AC power plug which was interfered with the tall wheel. I had very little space to force the plug into the outlet with rear wheel located directly underneath the 50-Amp inlet. I have set it for a 50-Amp Service delivery and I had very little fluctuation. I have serviced this generator with 93+ OCTANE fuel. With the fuel indicator reading slightly above half? I have kept added one gallon of fuel every two hours. Overall, this generator has consumed 5.6 gallons of fuel during the 10-hour usage. This Westinghouse 9500DF is well worth the purchase.

Arrived right on schedule - two days after ordering! Easy to unpack (although it IS heavy!). Attaching the wheels and feet- an hour or so (due more to my age (77) and the cold weather to than the difficulty of the assembly.. Loading oil & gas- an hour. One bottle of oil included in crate didn't fill the oil reserve in the engine...luckily I had some 10W-30 handy. Filled it up with gas and it fired right up (with a little assist from the choke because of the temperature). Easily moved it to patio within reach of extension cord to refrigerator & power strip. I feel prepared for the first big winter storm to hit the Northeast tomorrow.

This is a indeed a beast of a generator. It took about 3 weeks to deliver but it was well packaged and was rolled into my garage on a pallet without damage. Initial setup was straightforward and the most difficult part is lifting it off the pallet to the floor. Hooked it up to a 20lb propane tank and it fired up first press of the remote. I have one on order and will update if needed. Overall it looks very well made and should provide plenty of power to run a full house. Only knock so far is that the meter on the panel only shows voltage and frequency, but not watts or amps being drawn.

Our well pump is 240V and my previous inverter generator couldn’t produce beyond 120v/30 amps. After reading many reviews and price comparisons the Westinghouse WGen 9500 dual fuel, with both electric and remote start, was my ideal choice. The product arrived in pristine condition just a couple of days after it was shipped. Assembly was easy but this isn’t a 100 lbs portable generator so be prepared to wrestle with it a bit to install the wheels and floor rest. The battery is shipped with a charge and she started right up using the electric start. The key fob worked great too for starting and stopping the unit. It has a pull start just in case which I hope to never use. Sub teen temps with a chance of snow is headed my way this weekend so the fuse box generator interlock is in place and the WGen9500 DF is fueled and ready if called on. I’m very please with my purchase so far and look forward to years of service.

For starters, the dual fuel option prevents you from being screwed when the fuel gauge reads empty! Even while running just flip the switch from Gas to LP and this generator won't skip a beat. The push button start/stop fob is nice because it allows you to start the unit before putting on your britches! This way the unit is warmed up and stabilized prior to you plugging in your power cords. Then, when no longer needed, you can unplug the cords and allow the unit to cool down/stabilize before you push the stop button. The digital display is helpful for showing your voltage output, frequency (Hz), a "per use" timer to track how long the units been running and a total life run time hours display to assist with maintenance upkeep. If the power grid ever goes down while we're at the house, this unit will easily cover my power needs. I will have to buy the ST Switch and pay a qualified electrician to tap the switch into my house but what's the first rule for being a Happy Camper? Be Prepared! Anyway, I read the manual, applied the wheels, added the oil and followed the prestart procedure and VOILA! I was in my trailer with the A/C running and dreaming about where the wife and I would go next! Hope this helps with your generator shopping!
