There is nothing left to be desired with this camera. I use it to shoot both photo and video content for some of the largest corporations in the world as well as very high end weddings. I have used many different cameras over my career from different brands and I always come back to Canon. I had the 5D mk IV before this one, and thought that I didn't need to upgrade because it's such a fantastic camera, and yet, the R5 blows it out of the water. The eye detection autofocus is so good, that I don't even have to look at my camera, because I know it will nail the shot almost every time. Sometimes, I put my camera on a tripod and take photos of myself to test the light. I use the Canon Camera Connect app from my phone to take the photo, and I never have an out of focus picture no matter what pose I use. The color science from Canon is unmatched in my opinion. Nuff said there. Then there is the video. It's insane! The HQ 4k (down res from 8k) using the light IPB profile is ridiculous. The files are so sharp. You can zoom in so far without losing quality, and the file sizes are tiny and easy for my computer to edit. This is definitely a huge upgrade over the 5D mk IV's MJPEG files which in 4k, my computer could barely handle, even with proxy files. Finally, there is the dynamic range. You really cannot mess up with this camera. Even in the most extreme lighting conditions, if you expose for your highlights, you can almost always recover the shadow detail very easily. They say a better camera does not make you a better photographer, and that may be true, but this one sure makes my job a lot easier.

The auto focus is next level. If you are into portrait or animal photography this camera just locks on to the face and eye. Making it much faster to shoot moving subjects. Oh and auto focus points covering the entire screen, that's the best thing about mirrorless cameras. The images come out sharper than my 5D Mark IV, when tested with the Sigma 50mm Art. The RF24-105L lens is also a very good improvement over the the EF version 1. Has better dynamic range, I can recover more highlights and shadows, but it won't do miracles. The low light performance is really nice, you can easily do ISO 6400 - 8000 with very pleasing results. I personally don't mind the grain up to 12800. (The cat picture is ISO 12800 with the RF24-105L). Video 4K HQ looks amazing. I've not had any overheat problems, I shoot multiple 2 min or less clips, combined with photos, and a few 120fps clips. The camera is light and fits my hand perfectly with all the buttons in the right spots. Very easy to transition from the 5Dm4. Has three main dials for shutter, aperture and ISO. The front ring is exposure compensation by default. The focus point joystick is super fast and responsive, I'm so happy they added this back in. The shutter is very quiet and one of my favorite things about shooting with it. The EVF is crystal clear like, especial in the faster FPS mode. It works with all my EF and EF-S lenses, and all my 3rd party lenses with the addition of the R to EF adapter.

This camera is amazing good, Easy to handle, lightweight and powerful. The images I'm getting from this camera are more like the larger even more expensive cameras in the world... A must have for any professional photographer. Great for weddings and other events. Stunning in low light situations and ridiculously fast. Fantastic image quality in 8K, amazing pictures, 4K HQ is a blessing when I am recording externally. I love the 12 fps mechanical and 20 fps all electronic. I also really like the video options they put into this camera. The ability to pull a high res photo from a video is really fantastic. Menu's are very easy to navigate. Overall, a great quality mirrorless camera from Canon !

I love the quality of the images that I'm getting. I have far more images in focus than I did before using this camera. You can see your subject in the view finder and adjust before taking a photo.. Thus, for example, if the image is too dark - you can see that immediately and change your shutter speed. I was already using a canon before I started using this camera, so it was very easy to transition.
