Smooth ride battery last awhile and very easy to ride as a beginner. Brakes do work fine. You need to download the app which also allows you to set the speed.

So I'll start with the app, it's very intuitiveand ibwas impressedthe first time i used it but unfortunately after that it wouldn't work for me at all. Thankfully It's not necessary to use the scooter. In order to change the speed settings without the app just press the power button without holding it. In the app you can change from kmh to mph. The build quality and the design is really good. I've bought a few electric scooters now and this is the nicest in terms of appearance. It's comfortable to ride but the rear fender is noisy with bumps, I'll be making adjustments. It's peppy and quick. I'm 135 pounds and it takes me 28kmh with I think is right around 17 or 18mph. Easy to get started, charge it to full the first charge. Never ever try to ride further, after the battery dies. Do not power it back on and hope to ride another minute. This will damage the battery and render the scooter a kick scooter. Battery lasts a while and the battery status is listed in the app in real time. I would definitely recommend this scooter to anyone looking to ride approximately 18mph, reliably.

This scooter is heavy as all get out, manual says 40 lbs, but it's more like 46 and feels heavier. It rides smoothly, and comfortably. The platform is plenty wide.

I like this scooter because: 1) It doesn’t use off the self junk parts like 90% of the others. From the kickstand to the charging plug to the halo light. These are not what you would find on your generic scooter in this price range. 2) The LED Dashboard is a great addition 3) 9.5 inch Pneumatic tires in front and back- these make a world of difference. Pneumatic tires are tubeless air filled tires. The 9.5 inch size is perfect for this level of scooter. I have ridden both solid tire, tube tire and pneumatic tires. Solid tires will help you feel every bump you roll over- not much fun. Pneumatic or tubed tires give you a lot more cushion. 4) Build quality is representative of a more expensive scooter. 5) Wide deck. Plenty of room for your feet side by side or one in front of the other. 6) Thumb throttle. 7) The app- yes there are apparently folks who don’t like needing an app to ride the scooter. I prefer having the ability to lock and unlock my scooter via my phone, check the battery level and usage. I have had scooters with and without apps. The NIU app is decent and shows that the brand is committed to its customer base.

I had this scooter unpacked and assembled in 15 minutes. You need to get the APP to get it started but that was no problem. This scooter is very well made and rides better than any other scooter I have ridden. I bought one from another manufacturer on AMAZON last year. This one is far superior in quality of build, and riding comfort. It has air filled tires which make it far smoother that solid tire scooters. The one I got last year goes 5 mph faster, but the ride isn't nearly as comfortable. The latch that hold the thing together when folded is well engineered and works great. Our other scooter's latch has broken twice and we have to carry it with a strap. I can get the NIU scoter to go 16mph. (25mph would be better). I think they make another model that goes faster. However, I think most people will find 16mph fast enough. Battery life appears to be good. I can't rate it on hills, as I live in Florida and where I ride is flat. We take our scooters on our boat and use them when in port as transportation. They would be great for RVing as well. The APP keeps you well informed on the statistics of the scooter. It tells you the battery life, a go riding record, it locks and unlocks the scooter, helps you find dealer, has a fault code directory etc. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the scooter. It is no doubt the highest quality in this price range.

I've reviewed several electric scooters for my kids, but this is the first adult one we own, and it is substantial in size and quality compared to children's scooters. * Made of aerospace grade aluminum. * NIU is essentially saying, "Go big, or go home!" LOL! This adult scooter is bigger and more comfortable in every way versus competitors. 30% fatter wheels, 13% wider deck, and 25% wider handlebars. * The sports version has a max speed of 17.4 mph, and can climb 15% hill grades. * 4 riding modes, 5 hours charge time, 25 miles range capacity. * Scooter needs to go about 2.5 mph by foot first. After 2.5 mph, the electric component will kick in if you press the throttle at the handle bar. * You got headlights, as well as a nice bell on the left handle. * Best of all, it is foldable. Because they are going big, having it foldable is a must. But the folding action is the easiest, most intuitive system I've encountered so far. The latch is easy to undo, then you pull down on a button to release a catch. All the components are thick with smooth rounded corners, so your fingers never feel any discomfort. It is super easy. Most folding systems are tight, and cause discomfort in the fingers after you're done. The system on the NIU is super smooth, super easy to fold. Yet when it locks into place, it is super strong and sturdy.
